Vegas to Dallas

The Texas Story Project.

I was originally born in Detroit, Michigan, but because of my dad’s job, I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. I was only 4 months old at that time. I lived in Las Vegas for 11 years with my mom, dad, my little sister, my older brother, and my dog. I loved that everything we needed was there. I wish I could stay there forever. But little did I know that other things were coming for me.

My dad got a new job in Dallas, Texas. I didn’t want to go because Las Vegas was the only home I’ve ever known. Nonetheless, in December 2019, me and my family decided to take our car, with a Uhaul, to move to Dallas. It was an adventure driving into blizzards, rain storms, and snow. When we eventually got to Dallas, it was weird to be in a new state to call home.

It was a challenge to live our first year in Dallas because of the pandemic, but we didn’t let that stop us. When the pandemic calmed down, we were able to explore Texas. Me and my family tried different foods in Dallas such as Terry Blacks and Pecan Lodge. This summer, me and my family went to San Antonio to visit The Alamo and the Riverwalk. Although living in Dallas is not the same as living in Vegas, I am glad that I live here now.
