Members at the Austin Society level and above receive additional parking vouchers, admission and documentary tickets per visit, additional member guest(s) per visit, 15% discount at the Museum Store, and invitations to select upper-level Member events.

How do I become a Member?

What does my membership include?

When will I receive my membership packet?

You will receive your membership packet, which includes your membership cards and parking vouchers, in the mail within two weeks of purchasing or renewing a membership. If you have yet to receive your membership packet after two weeks or prefer to pick up your packet in-person at the Museum, please contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or membership@thestoryoftexas.com.

Is my membership tax deductible?

The Bullock Museum will automatically send year-end statements for membership purchases over $250. Please consult your tax advisor for specific requirements for deductibility regarding your membership. Contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or membership@thestoryoftexas.com to inquire about an end-of-year statement. 

How can I add a secondary Member or update the name on my member card?

Contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or membership@thestoryoftexas.com to correct the mistake. Reprinted membership cards will only be issued upon request.   

How do I update my contact information?

Use the online Member Portal to update select contact information associated with your membership. To update your email address, please contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or membership@thestoryoftexas.com.

How do I keep up with Museum events, programs, and exhibitions?

Members receive a free subscription to the Museum email newsletter and our STAR magazine publication as a membership benefit. Click here to subscribe to additional Museum email newsletters.

How do I use my membership benefits online?

Members must verify their membership to use their benefits online. Enter your Member ID or the email address associated with your membership to verify your membership when purchasing tickets or registering for Member-exclusive events online. Once verified, you will unlock exclusive member pricing and benefits.

Can I purchase/renew a membership for two years?

No. Bullock memberships are for a one-year term and expire on the last day of the month of purchase. 

Can I upgrade my membership?

Yes. You can upgrade your membership to a higher level at any time during your membership term by paying the difference in membership levels. To upgrade your membership, log into the online Member Portal, visit Ticketing onsite, or call the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689.

What is the online Member Portal for?

Members can use the online Member Portal to check their membership status, renew or upgrade a membership, review orders and registrations, and update select contact information. Click here to log in to the online Member Portal.

Visiting the Museum

Can I visit the Museum if I have not received my membership packet yet?

Yes! Your membership is active from the day of purchase/renewal. Visit the Ticketing Counter on-site to receive a temporary membership card. Please note you may have to pay for parking at the Museum Garage.

Do I need to make a member reservation to visit the Museum?

No reservations are needed for Members to enjoy their benefits. Show your membership card at the Ticketing Counter to use your benefits on-site or verify your membership to use your benefits online.

Can I use my membership for school or group admission?

Member benefits may not be used for group or school field trip reservations.

What museums are under the NARM reciprocal program?

The North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association offers free or reduced admission to over 1,000 institutions across the United States, including the McDonald Observatory, the Holocaust Museum in Houston, the Frick Collection in New York, and more! Visit the NARM website to find a qualifying institution. 

How do I use my membership discount at the Museum Store?

Members receive a 10–15% discount on-site or online at the Museum Store, depending on their membership level. When purchasing online, your membership discount is automatically applied to your order during the checkout process. If the discount is not automatically applied, please enter your membership ID number located on your membership card or your registered email address in the "Membership Code" box at checkout to apply the Member discount.

Parking

​​When will I receive my parking vouchers?

You will receive your membership packet, which includes your membership cards and parking vouchers, in the mail within two weeks of purchasing or renewing a membership. If you have yet to receive your membership packet after two weeks or prefer to pick up your packet in-person at the Museum, please contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or membership@thestoryoftexas.com.

What happens if I used all the parking vouchers that came with my membership?

If you used all your member parking vouchers you can choose to renew or upgrade your membership to receive more parking vouchers, or pay $15 to park at the Museum Garage.

I lost my parking vouchers. Can I get new ones?

No. Parking vouchers are nontransferable. Lost or stolen parking vouchers cannot be reissued.

Why do member parking vouchers expire?

Parking vouchers are considered a member benefit and as such coincide with the expiration date of your membership. When you renew or upgrade your membership, you receive new vouchers with new expiration dates for the renewal/upgrade. The Museum Garage only accepts valid parking vouchers with an expiration date stamp.

My membership packet did not come with parking vouchers. How can I get my parking vouchers?

Membership packets for new memberships, membership renewals, and membership upgrades include parking vouchers. Please contact the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689 or Membership@TheStoryofTexas.com to check the status of your membership.

Can members park at the Museum Garage during a UT football game?

Yes. The Museum Garage offers extended parking hours during University of Texas home football game days. Parking on game days is $10 for Members (with a valid parking voucher) and $25 for the general public. Use the coupon on the reverse side of your Member parking voucher to claim this parking discount. Please note free Member parking is not available during University of Texas home football game days. Only valid member parking vouchers will be honored on game days, even if you do not plan on attending the football game. Museum visitors may experience traffic delays on game days.

Can I exchange old or expired parking vouchers?

No. Parking vouchers are considered a Member benefit and coincide with the expiration date of your membership. When you renew or upgrade your membership, you receive new vouchers with new expiration dates for the renewal or upgrade. Renew or upgrade your membership to receive more parking vouchers.

Renewing, Updating, and Gifting a Membership

How do I renew my membership?

There are four easy ways to renew your membership.

  • Visit the Ticketing Counter in the Museum Lobby
  • Mail a check payable to TSHM with your renewal notice form
How do I upgrade my membership?

To upgrade your membership, log into the online Member Portal, visit the Ticketing Counter onsite, or call the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689. You can upgrade your membership to a higher level at any time during your membership term by paying the difference in membership levels.

How do I purchase a gift membership?

Gift memberships can be purchased on-site at Ticketing, online, or by calling the Membership Office at (512) 936-4689. Gift membership recipients will receive an email confirmation and are responsible for activating their gift membership. Recipients will receive their membership packet, which includes your membership cards and parking vouchers in the mail within two weeks of purchase. For special accommodations or requests, please contact the Membership Office.
