Texas Through Your Lens

See how others see Texas.

To tell the story of a state this vast and diverse, the Bullock Texas State History Museum needs your perspective. Texas Through Your Lens is a photography project that invites you to be a part of history by entering your photographs in themed competitions and galleries. All submissions will be included in an online gallery for friends, family, and visitors to enjoy.

Join Texas Through Your Lens by entering your photographs in this current submission project:

The Texas Freedom Colonies Storyteller Project

Do you and your family have objects or photographs that evoke memories of freedom colonies? Freedom colonies are Black settlements in Texas founded between 1865 and 1930. Submit your photos to contribute to a digital archive that aims to share the stories of freedom colonies through pictures of your artifacts. The Texas Freedom Colonies Storyteller Project raises awareness of freedom colonies and preserves, connects, educates, and honors the legacies of these places in the broader story of Texas.
