Monday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bullock Museum exhibitions are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Easter. The IMAX® Theatre is closed on select holidays, please check the Museum calendar for details.
Location
Entrance to the Bullock Museum is located on the new Texas Capitol Mall, a pedestrian green space between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and the Texas State Capitol. Access to the Bullock Museum’s onsite parking garage is located on 18th Street, on the south side of the Museum.

Facility Guidelines
Please note that the Bullock Museum does not offer coat or bag storage. Backpacks smaller than 12x12x12 inches are allowed in the exhibition galleries. Suitcases and large backpacks/bags are not permitted.
The following items are not permitted inside the Bullock Museum or its theaters. In addition to items specifically listed here, other items that may be deemed to present a potential hindrance or threat may also be prohibited.
- Animals (exception for certified service animals)
- Bags, backpacks, and purses larger than 12x12x12 inches
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates, Segways, or other unauthorized means of transportation
- Chairs and folding tables
- Distribution of unauthorized promotional or commercial material
- Fireworks, explosives, or other incendiary devices
- Food and beverages are not allowed in the exhibition galleries.
- Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the IMAX® Theatre. Food can be purchased at Concessions in the IMAX® lobby. Food is not permitted in the Texas Spirit Theater.
- Glass containers
- Illegal substances or weapons
- Items that may be deemed a safety hazard or annoyance to guests (aerosol cans, sports equipment, balloons, projectiles, laser pointers, musical instruments, any kind of noise-making or -transmitting equipment, etc.)
- Video cameras, audio recording devices, and tripods; no video recording will be allowed in the theaters - including with iPads and tablets.
The use of tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, is not permitted in the building.
Visitors age fifteen and younger must be accompanied in the Museum and theaters by someone age sixteen or older.
Photo and Video Policy
Personal, non-commercial, non-flash photography with small hand-held cameras is permitted in all exhibition galleries and public spaces with the exception of the IMAX® Theatre and Texas Spirit Theater. Some objects in the galleries may have restrictions regarding photography required by the lenders; please pay attention to signage that prohibits photographs or video of individual objects. Visitors may not use the images for commercial purposes, including selling or publishing the images or using the images to promote any outside product, service, business, organization, artist or individual, including on social media.
For the safety of our visitors and artifacts, the Bullock Museum prohibits the use of selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, camera rigs and gimbals, and other external camera equipment on Museum grounds, unless previously arranged and approved. Camera equipment cannot be stored onsite.

Visitors to the Bullock Museum may be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded. By visiting, visitors grant the Museum permission to use photographs and/or audiovisual recordings in which visitors appear for archival, documentary, publicity, advertising, or other purposes. A visitor observing they are being photographed may request that their image not be used.
The Bullock Museum does not issue press passes. All members of the media must be approved in advance of their visit by the Bullock’s Marketing Department and escorted by a Bullock staff member while onsite. To request more information, high-resolution images, or schedule a visit and/or interview, please submit a media request.

All commercial filming must be pre-approved by Bullock Museum Administration. Film crews must be escorted by a Bullock staff member while on site. Commercial filming includes TV and film, as well as photos or video intended to promote an outside product, service, business, organization, artist or individual, including for use on websites and social media.
To apply for permission, please submit a Production Application. If approved, you will be required to enter into a formal Location Agreement. A minimum of 10 working days advance notice is required for all proposed production activities.

Unsure if you need to submit a media request or production application? Please email marketing@thestoryoftexas.com with a description of your organization/publication, what you’d like to photograph, and how the images or video will be used. We will help you determine how best to proceed.
If you would like to license an image from the Bullock, please contact the Registrar office. Please be aware that most artifacts in the Museum’s galleries are on loan from other organizations and individuals and you may need to arrange image licensing directly with the owner.
