Educator Workshop: America250 with the National Constitution Center

Calling all educators! Utilize real-world civics during this FREE professional development session with the National Constitution Center.

Event Details

The National Constitution Center and the Bullock Museum are co-hosting an educator workshop with a focus on America250, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Over this two-day session, listen to guest talks by NCC representatives, explore the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the Texas Declaration of Independence through the lens of the Center’s educational framework and supplemental artifacts on view at the Bullock Museum, and gather inspiration and resources for civics-based classroom activities.

Opening night dinner will be provided on October 3, as well as breakfast and lunch on October 4. Lodging and stipends for travel and substitutes will be provided by the National Constitution Center.

Activities

Friday, October 3

  • 4 p.m. — Welcome and community building 
  • 5:30 p.m. — Opening dinner
  • 8 p.m. — Evening concludes

Saturday, October 4

  • 8 a.m. — Coffee and daily objectives 
  • 9 a.m. — Tour of the Bullock Texas State History Museum
  • 10:30 a.m. — Primary source connections
  • 12:15 p.m. — Lunch break 
  • 1 p.m. — Scholar talk 
  • 2:30 p.m. — Classroom application
  • 4 p.m. — Wrap-up and final questions
