Programs

February 8, 2026 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Blend creativity with conservation during this hands-on workshop celebrating Texas flora.

Event Details

Join art and environmental educator Juliet Whitsett for a hands-on workshop that celebrates the shapes, colors, and surprising beauty of Texas’s rarest cacti with vibrant paper cut-outs in the spirit of 20th-century French artist Henri Matisse. In this program, participants will be introduced to nine of these remarkable plants, learning how their unique structures and adaptations help them survive in harsh environments—and why some now face serious ecological threats. This creative session is perfect for anyone interested in Texas ecology, conservation, and the joy of art-making—no prior experience required.

This program is geared toward adults and is not recommended for children under 13. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for Museum members. Not a member? Join now.
