Event Details
Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during H-E-B Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase artifacts from around the state. Dive into the heart of Texas with Girlstart. From 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. explore the connections between history and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through interactive demos and hands-on activities for kids of all ages. No registration required.
Girlstart’s activities include:
- Investigate how creatures soar as you design an amazing bird glider
- Reveal secret messages and explore the Mystery and Benevolence exhibition
- Mix up a bouncy ball and learn about the science of polymers and plastics
- Play a tiny handmade piano as you experience acoustics and explore the ACL Theater installation
Family programs provide educational and engaging activities for young Texans and their caregivers. Events are designed to bring families together, spark conversations and provide opportunities for growth and development.

February Free First Sunday is presented in partnership with Girlstart, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing girls' interest and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and math through innovative, nationally recognized informal STEM education programs.
The Bullock Museum, a division of the Texas State Preservation Board, is funded by Museum members, donors, and patrons, the Texas State History Museum Foundation, and the State of Texas.
