Dig your way through Texas history during a special day with the Texas Archeology Fair at the Bullock.
Event Details
Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during H-E-B Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase and tell the history of artifacts from around the state.
The Texas Archeology Fair showcases how archeology can be used to teach across cultures and disciplines.
Activities:
- Watch flintknapping and atlatl hunting spear throw demonstrations
- View clay pinch pots created by local elementary students and get a chance to create your own
- Explore activity booths throughout the Museum hosted by archeologists, historians, tribal representatives, and cultural institutions
- 2 p.m. Purchase tickets to a special screening and filmmaker panel of The Stones Are Speaking

The Texas Archeology Fair at the Bullock Museum is a featured event during the Texas Historical Commission’s Texas Archeology Month, a commemoration held each October to celebrate history and heritage through the lens of archeology. Throughout the month, the THC and partners across the state like the Bullock Museum provide hands-on activities and host commemorative events such as archeology fairs, demonstrations, presentations, museum exhibits, and walking tours.
