Poetry Out Loud

Programs

February 27, 2016 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Celebrate the best of Texas' future poets and performers.

The Museum is pleased to once again host the Poetry Out Loud recitation contest, a national project of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.

Sponsored in Texas by the Texas Commission on the Arts, this exciting program helps high school students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage as they memorize poems and perform them in competition. The afternoon's event will feature the best students in Texas competing for the opportunity to take part in the national finals.

Please note: Due to this day-long competition, regular film programming will not be shown in the Texas Spirit Theater.
