Enjoy a day full of discovery and learning at the Bullock Museum reserved specifically for homeschool families.
Event Details
Participate in hands-on activities and special classes geared toward STEAM learning and inspired by Pong to Pokémon: The Evolution of Electronic Gaming. Museum admission is free for homeschool families on this date and school group rates for films in the IMAX® Theatre and Texas Spirit Theatre are available from 9:00am-5:00pm.
Available Activities
Drop-in anytime between 10:00am-2:00pm for these activities.
- Explore Museum exhibits with educational activity guides.
- Engage in conversation and interact with hands-on objects in Museum exhibits.
- Enjoy activities that will spark imaginative and innovative thinking.
- Participate in special paid classes for a more in-depth look at various topics.
- Pick up resources to supplement your at-home curriculum provided by the Bullock Museum and KLRU-PBS.
- Visit special exhibitions Pong to Pokémon: The Evolution of Electronic Gaming and American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition.
Available Classes
Hands-on classes taught by museum educators and partner organizations give your students an opportunity to spend more time exploring topics that relate to STEAM learning and inspired by Pong to Pokémon: The Evolution of Electronic Gaming.
By popular demand, reserve a seat in a class in advance for a small fee. Space is limited in each class and reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow as many students as possible access to these unique learning opportunities, we ask that you choose only one class for your student or students to attend. Tickets are required only for students, not adults. All classes are $4 per student. Class information and tickets below.
Angry Birds Physics: Children will have fun playing a live action version of Angry Birds while learning about the scientific tactics necessary to hit the targets. Understand the physics involved in aiming and launching angry birds at the pigs. This class is appropriate for students ages 8 and up and lasts 50 minutes. Class begins at 10:00am
Animate with Stop Motion: Take inspiration from classic video games to animate a short movie using stop motion animation. Learn how to work with a simple program that you can use at home to create more stop motion movies. This class is appropriate for students ages 8 and up and lasts 50 minutes. Class begins at 11:00am
Science of Toys by Mad Science: Children will discover the science behind some of their favorite toys in this fun-packed program! Children aren’t the only ones with the energy to play, their toys are packed with it too! This explains Yo-yo tricks, the amazing “String Thing” and much more! Further Physics fun awaits them at home with their yo-yo. This class is appropriate for students ages 6 and up and lasts one hour. Class begins at 10:00am.
Radical Robots by Mad Science: Get wrapped up in the world of robotics. Learn how robots make our lives easier. See how science and technology go hand in hand by building a robotic hand that you can manipulate at home. This class is appropriate for students ages 6 and up and lasts one hour.
