Celebrate Texas Independence Day with activities that show off the beauty and boldness of the Lone Star State.

Event Details

Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Enjoy activities from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase artifacts from around the state.

Activities:

  • Design a personalized flag choosing from colors and state symbols that represent you as a Texan.
  • Step back in time with a veteran of the battle of San Jacinto and hear about what life was like for this soldier fighting for Texas' independence.
  • Construct corn husk dolls as you learn about the tradition with our friends from the Neill-Cochran House Museum.
  • Get inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of the Lone Star State and build your favorite Texas landmark or symbol using Legos.
  • Join us for Storytime at 1:00 p.m. and listen to a story all about Texas.
