The Story of Texas Cafe offers new menu, fresh look at Bullock Museum

The new menu features fresh, Texas-inspired favorites

JANUARY 29, 2019 (AUSTIN, TX) — The Bullock Texas State History Museum is pleased to welcome food industry veteran Rosemary's Catering as the new operator of the Story of Texas Cafe. The company brings to the Cafe a Texas-inspired menu designed to appeal to visitors of all ages and tastes.

Located on the second floor of the Museum and open to the public, the Story of Texas Cafe offers respite from a busy day in a comfortable setting. A culinary staple in Texas that began in San Antonio, Rosemary's Catering is a family-owned institution that has been in operation for more than seventy years. Now led by parent company the RK Group, Rosemary's Catering has expanded to multiple locations in Texas and out of state.

“We’re very happy to welcome the team led by Chef Baron Cazares to the Museum and know that our visitors and guests will be treated to quality food at a reasonable price," Bullock Museum Director Margaret Koch said. "Chef Cazares plans and oversees the preparation of both comfort foods and healthy offerings, as well as daily specials that will keep our guests fueled throughout the day. We’re looking forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces back to the Cafe.”

The Story of Texas Cafe is housed in an updated 6,800-square-foot space with comfortable banquettes, window seats, and table setups for intimate conversation or group lunches. The indoor/outdoor cafe space accommodates 190 guests seated and looks out over the Museum's Lone Star Plaza and the iconic bronze star. Guests will be surrounded by a uniquely 'Texas' atmosphere including stunning aerial photographs of the Texas borderlands by local Austin photographer Jay B Sauceda.

Award-winning chefs tell the story of Texas through food, and a reinvented menu highlights savory Texas favorites. Menu items include baked potatoes with choice of toppings and roadhouse chili with plenty of spice. Locally sourced products combined with a pride for Texas heritage create a stand-out dining experience for all visitors.

“I am honored to be a part of the team leading the relaunch of the Story of Texas Cafe," Chef Baron Cazares said. "We have some fun specials planned that will bring our guests back to their Texas roots. I am looking forward to connecting with our guests, new and old alike, to make their experience truly special.”

Open Monday through Saturday 9 am to 4 pm and Sundays from noon to 4 pm, the Cafe serves a wide array of patrons, including Museum and theater goers, Capitol Complex employees from the surrounding state offices, and tourists from all over the world.
