Republic of Texas infantry officer shako helmet
A new infantry uniform for a new republic
In 1839 the Republic of Texas commissioned new dress uniforms for its infantry, including this shako cap adorned with a sunburst insignia with a lone star in its center. The tassels indicate that this helmet belonged to an officer.
