High Noon Talk: Fighting for Freedom, From Europe to El Paso

Programs

September 2, 2015 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Held on the first Wednesday of every month, High Noon Talks highlight interesting and often untold topics through this lunch-time lecture.

After World War II, Mexican American veterans returned home to Texas and began a new struggle that would change the country through the fifties, sixties, and seventies. Join Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez for a discussion of her new book Texas Mexican Americans and Postwar Civil Rights, which draws on oral histories from Texas veterans to share this inspiring story. The personal accounts included in the book show how local activists from across Texas propelled the national civil rights movement.
