Volunteer

Share the stories of Texas with the world!

The Texas Revolution may have had a much different ending without the participation of volunteers. Never underestimate the difference you can make.

Get involved. Get invigorated.

Become a part of a dynamic and valued volunteer team. Choose how you'd like to share your time and expertise.

  • Greet: Give a big Texas hello to Museum visitors from all over the world. Provide general visitor information and orientation to the galleries. Be the first point of contact in helping adults, families, and school groups create a meaningful and memorable visit to the Bullock Museum.
  • Guide: Share what you know about all things Texas. Share your great Texas tales, too. Volunteer guides help tell the many stories of Texas through interesting facts and tidbits about the museum's ever-changing collection of artifacts.
  • Present: Put your love of teaching and/or performing into action. Use the Museum's collection of teaching artifacts and discovery carts to provide engaging hands-on experiences that expand visitors' understanding of Texas's complex and fascinating history. If you'd like to learn more and present more, consider becoming a Museum docent or historical interpreter.

Get good things

There are a lot of good things that come from being a volunteer at the Bullock Museum. You'll meet other great volunteers and visitors, spend interesting days in beautiful surroundings, and you'll probably learn a few things along the way. There's also a complimentary annual Museum membership that offers free exhibition admission, free parking, and invitations to sneak previews of exhibitions, educational programs, and some IMAX® Theatre films. And that's not even mentioning the special volunteer parties and awards! Of course, there are a few requirements for receiving these great opportunities and benefits. You have to: 1) commit to a regularly scheduled weekly shift (accomodations can be made for personal plans), 2) attend interesting and well-presented continuing education and enrichment sessions, and 3) be over 18.

We're looking forward to having you join us soon!
