Experience the traditional textiles, art, dance and culture of each Mexican state with free admission and fun family activities connected to Hilos de Tradición: Dresses of Mexico.

Event Details

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through performances and hands-on activities. FREE admission will provide access to all Museum galleries including the Hilos de Tradición exhibition now on view. Enjoy ballet folklorico or drop-in for activities designed for the whole family to enjoy from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Special family programs combine art creation, performance, and in-gallery discovery.

Activities

  • 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - Dia de los Muertos story time, crafts, songs, and shadow puppets with the Austin Public Library
  • 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - Austin High School Ballet Folklorico performance followed by dance lessons for families
  • Create original paper dolls and try embroidery stitches that reflect the designs in the exhibition
