An evening dedicated to the creative work of animator Don Hertzfeldt

Join the Bullock Museum for an evening celebrating the award-winning, Austin-based animator Don Hertzfeldt. View his original artworks, watch the Oscar-nominated short film World of Tomorrow, and learn more about Hertzfeldt's creative process.

Event Details

  • Included with your ticket is a 6:00 p.m. welcoming reception with a cash bar.
  • During the reception, visitors can enjoy an art installation featuring Hertzfeldt's original artwork and sketches.
  • At 7:00 p.m., Hertzfeldt introduces a screening of three of his animated works: It's Such a Beautiful Day, The Simpson's couch gag, and World of Tomorrow.

About the Filmmaker

Don Hertzfeldt is a two-time Oscar-nominated independent filmmaker whose animated films include It's Such a Beautiful DayThe Meaning of LifeBilly's Balloon, and Rejected. His work has played around the world, receiving over 250 awards, and he recently wrote, animated and directed a couch gag on the premiere of the 26th season of The Simpsons. Seven of his films have screened in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, where he is the only filmmaker to have won the overall Grand Jury Prize for Short Film twice. His first feature film, It's Such a Beautiful Day, was named by several critics as one of the Top Ten Films of 2012.
