High Noon Talk: Deadwood Dick

Onsite & Online Program

February 2, 2022 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Discover the true story of one of the most famous heroes of the Old West.

Event Details

Like all ranch hands and riders, African American cowboys lived hard, dangerous lives. But Black drovers were expected to do the roughest, most dangerous work — and to do it without complaint. Join Michael Searles, author of the new book Black Cowboys of the American West, for a talk on Nat Love, a formerly enslaved man who became a cowboy and whose life story and legendary exploits inspired numerous books and films.

High Noon Talks highlight interesting and often untold topics through a casual lunch-time lecture.
