Bullock Museum names new Head of External Affairs
Long-time Austinite to lead Marketing, Membership and Special Events teams
FEBRUARY 12, 2018 (AUSTIN, TX) — The Bullock State History Museum has selected Lisa Maxwell as its new Head of External Affairs. Maxwell, a fifth-generation Texan, brings to the Museum more than 25 years of experience in marketing communications, special event management and nonprofit/association management.
"Lisa's background was very well suited to fulfill the requirements of this position, and we love the passion and excitement she has shown toward helping to tell the story of Texas," said Bullock Museum Interim Director Margaret Koch.
As a key member of the Museum's leadership team, the Head of External Affairs will further enhance the reputation and brand of the Museum while working closely with other departments to promote programs and events, develop media strategies, and build external relationships.
Prior to joining the Bullock Museum, Maxwell held roles as the Community Engagement Director for Austin Pets Alive! and the Marketing and CRM program manager at Avende. Additionally, she worked at the Texas Travel Industry Association, which supports tourism destinations across Texas.
The Bullock Texas State History Museum in downtown Austin includes three floors of exhibitions, an IMAX® theater, a special-effects theater, café and museum store. The Museum collaborates with more than 700 museums, libraries, archives and individuals to display original historical artifacts and produce exhibitions that illuminate and celebrate Texas history and culture.
