This may have been the last time the Park Service filled the seasonal pond behind the store at Rio Grande Village. Only a few years later the pond was dry and today the cottonwoods are gone or nearly so.Enlarge

We had snow overnight and it had all melted by the afternoon with a dusting left on the mountains. We later learned the road into the basin was closed this day due to snow.Enlarge
