Wednesday Workshops: Bringing History to Life

Programs

July 20, 2016 11:00am - 1:00pm

Create your own artifact or work of art to remember your museum visit. This more in-depth drop-in program is great for families with kids ages six and up

Bringing History to Life: Tour the galleries with Badgerdog writer and teaching artist Amanda North. We’ll explore and discuss a selection of artifacts on display and try to imagine what certain people and objects in history witnessed, felt, and fought for (even inanimate objects like a cowboy spur or a prospector’s hat)! We’ll then write “persona” pieces that bring these objects from history to life.

Limited capacity. Tickets to reserve your spot are available at the ticket counter first come, first served on day of event starting at 10am. Workshop will last approximately 45 minutes. Families are encouraged to bring snacks. Please consider potential allergies of others in workshop when choosing your snacks.

This Wednesday Workshop is put on in partnership with the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation's Badgerdog Creative Writing Program.

This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
