State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda Member Exhibition Preview Reception

Programs

September 21, 2016 7:00pm - 9:00pm

The Bullock Texas State History Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum invite you to a private exhibition reception for State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda featuring On the Texas Home Front and The Butterfly Project.

Be among the first to see State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda on September 21 at a Member cocktail reception. Enjoy light bites and complimentary cocktails. Most importantly-- learn, remember, reflect, and walk away with an enriched perspective on the propagation of hatred.

The exhibition explores Nazi propaganda and its impact abroad and at home, through rare artifacts from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, artifacts from Texas lenders, historic film footage, and first-person interviews. Discover propaganda's impact and why it matters.

The Bullock Museum-curated accompanying exhibition, On the Texas Homefront, examines the significance of Nazi propaganda in Texas. Original works of art, government footage, and first-person oral histories of those imprisoned in internment camps reveal what was happening here in Texas. Don't miss The Butterfly Project ---   a large-scale art installation covered with thousands of butterflies created by children from every corner of Texas who were inspired by the poem The Butterfly, written in 1942 by a young man imprisoned in Terezin, Czechoslovakia. The butterflies represent endurance, change, hope, and life.
