About The State Preservation Board
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is a division of the State Preservation Board. The State Preservation Board was established in 1983 by the 68th Legislature for the purpose of preserving, maintaining, and restoring the State Capitol and the General Land Office Building, and their contents and grounds.
The members of the Board include the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House, a member of the Texas Senate, a member of the Texas House of Representatives, and a citizen member.
Since the completion of the Capitol Preservation and Extension Project in 1995 and the Historic South Grounds Restoration Project in 1997, the Board's focus has been on preservation maintenance and visitor services. The State Preservation Board welcomes the added responsibility of governing the new Museum.
