About the Texas Spirit Theater

The Texas Spirit Theater is the biggest multimedia special effects theater of its kind in Texas. Located on the second floor of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, this 200-seat venue boasts three screens and thrilling special effects to create a truly unique experience. The Theater's feature presentation, The Star of Destiny, takes audiences on an epic journey through the history of Texas three times an hour. Produced by BRC Imagination Arts and narrated by the character of Sam Houston, this presentation tells the human side of historic events, focusing on stories of perseverence to show how the spirit of Texas is in the people.

Historic episodes such as the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 come to life with sets, special lighting and amazing sound effects. Seats shake as visitors witness a gusher exploding from an East Texas oil derrick and the takeoff of the Saturn V carrying the first astronauts to the moon. Other surprising effects make The Star of Destiny a memorable learning experience for all ages.

Equipped with the latest media systems and special effects, this theater combines cutting-edge production values and entertaining, history-based programming -- including Storyteller Programs, Symposiums and other special topic programs exploring Texas history.
