Visitor Services Volunteer

Visitor Services Volunteers provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, offering information, and giving directions to individuals and groups. Volunteers are stationed at the Museum exhibit entrances, and they greet visitors to ensure that they feel welcome during their visit.

Essential Functions

  • Volunteers provide exceptional customer service by providing thorough information regarding all aspects of the Museum to visitors.
  • Volunteers ensure that all visitors entering the Exhibits have admission tags.
  • Volunteers ensure that all visitors follow Museum and Exhibit guidelines.
  • Volunteers follow the floor staff schedule to ensure all exhibit area entrances are covered.
  • Volunteers assist Museum staff with the accessibility and safety of all visitors.

Training

  • Orientation to the Volunteer program
  • Visitor Services Volunteer training session and Museum tour

Desirable Skills

  • Volunteers must possess strong customer service skills.
  • Volunteers must be able to communicate and interact with a diverse audience.
  • Volunteers must have a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Previous experience as a volunteer working with the general public or in the retail field is preferred.
  • Fluency in another language is preferred.

Note: May require prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
