    We received many requests for an encore session of the Open Gates, Open Minds Professional Development on Immigration. We will be offering a second session on August 11th from 9 AM-5 PM. See below for more details.

    When planning for next year please keep the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in mind. We have lessons online, programs for students of all ages, distance learning programs, and much more!     The Big Blues You Can Use Workshop®
    Blues You Can Use

    The Big Blues You Can Use Workshop®
    July 10th, 5 PM - 6 PM
    Free, Meet under the Star on the Plaza

    Kids, get your Blues on at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum during the Big Blues You Can Use Workshop®. National award winning music educator David Berntson will lead kids on a songwriting journey that will have kids blowing their harps like a pro.

    FREE Hohner harmonicas and instruction booklets will be distributed to kids on a first come, first serve basis. This program is generously supported by the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association.

    Once at the workshop, stay for Music Under the Star
    6 PM-9 PM

    Set out your camp chairs and blankets on the Plaza and enjoy local artists performing live music while enjoying free food and drinks from Rudy's Bar-B-Q, Mighty Fine Burgers, Blue Bell ice cream, and Sweet Leaf Teas.

    Lessons Online

    If you are bringing a group to the museum, we have activities. Please go to our Educator Guides to see a few general lessons. The Museum also offers 8 detailed lessons on La Salle's French exploration of Texas on the ship La Belle. Click here to explore.

    Come on a journey to far away lands, and revisit places near and dear with storyteller Elida Bonet. Become spell bound as she weaves a tapestry of colorful folktales and true life stories based on the theme of immigration. Elida Bonet has been a storyteller for over 12 years performing at schools, libraries, festivals and universities.

    Meet in the Forgotten Gateway exhibit with guest curator, Dr. Suzanne Seriff, who will share the behind-the-scenes stories of the artifacts and people who helped create this extraordinary exhibition.
