Distance Learning Programs

Dr. SourceExperience the Story of Texas right in your classroom. Distance Learning at the Museum allows teachers and students across the state of Texas to explore history in exciting new ways through live, interactive, two-way video conferencing.

Led by Dr. Source, Primary Investigator, our Distance Learning programs transform students into history detectives who conduct historical investigations using the richness of Texas history and the exhibits of the Museum.

These immersive, educational experiences are designed with pre- and post- viewing activities for students, a variety of teacher resources, and clear connections to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and National Standards.

Technical Requirements
You must have an IP- or ISDN-based videoconferencing system to participate.

The Museum makes all Distance Learning connections through www.connect2texas.net, the Museum's videoconferencing service and support partner run by Education Service Center XI.

Connections to you through our bridge (ESC Region XI) are made in one of the following ways:

  • Dial-In using ISDN (H.320) with the remote site initiating the call.
  • Dial-Out using ISDN (H.320) with Connect2Texas initiating the call at $100 per hour charge.
  • Internet connection IP (H.323) over the general commodity Internet.
  • Internet connection IP (H.323) using Internet2.
  • Direct connections to other Education Service Centers using the statewide videoconferencing network (TETN).

For technical assistance or to ask questions about the connectivity options, contact Lori Hamm at (817)740-7616 or by email: lhamm@esc11.net.

Cost and Program Capacity

$100.00 per Program (average program time: 45-60 minutes)

  • We ask that no more than 35 students view a program at one time, too many viewers makes interacting with the class less effective.
$350.00 per Professional Development Workshop (average workshop time: three hours)
  • There is no limit on the number of professional development viewers.
